Press Release

Mental Health Walk In Center

The community is reminded that the Mental Health Walk-In Center, supported by the Mental Health Collaborative of Indian River County, offers individual and family counseling, assessments, crisis intervention, and referrals to community resources. The hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Center is designed to meet the mental health needs of those experiencing personal crisis or needing support coping with challenging life situations. Individuals who are uninsured or underinsured and are having symptoms of anxiety, depression, grieving from the loss of a loved one, or having relationship problems are welcome at the Center.

“Since the MHA Walk-In Center opened, we have seen people with a wide spectrum of problems,” comments Kristine Sarkauskas, President and CEO of the MHA. “From helping a middle age woman who recently lost her husband in a car accident, to a family in divorce, or a husband losing his job and turning to liquor to help him through the day, all of these individuals are feeling hopeless. But they do not have to suffer alone. Individuals, couples and families are welcome to receive help by calling the Walk-In Center.”

The Mental Health Association has been in operation for over 30 years in Indian River County.  They have proven their value to the community every day in lives saved, families helped, and connections made for people facing mental health challenges. The MHA is located at 777 37th Street, Suite D-104 in Vero Beach. The Indian River Transit public buses make stops at 37th Street at the end of the driveway at the Kurtell Medical Building where the MHA suite of offices is located.
