The Mental Health Association receives grant from Grand Harbor

The Mental Health Association in Indian River County received a $5000.00 grant from the Grand Harbor Community Outreach Program. Dale Jacobs, Vice President of Philanthropy for Grand Harbor delivered a check to the MHA on Wednesday, April 25th. “The Mental Health Association’s Walk-in Clinic provides free mental health services to IRC residents in immediate need of help to stabilize their condition," said Jacobs. "The Grand Harbor Community Outreach Program believes this is a critical service for our community and is pleased to help fund the Walk-in Clinic”.

The money from this grant will be used to provide social skills training to the many children with behavioral and emotional difficulties who have substantial social skills deficits. In addition, this grant will also provide parenting workshops. Research has shown that parenting workshops focused on building resiliency in children are effective in assisting children to deal with life stress and adapt as needed.

Grand Harbor Community Outreach is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to addressing the unmet needs of groups and individuals in Indian River County. With no employees and with the generous support of our Corporate Sponsors to cover our operating expenses, our donors are assured that 100% of their contributions will fund approved grants to non-profit agencies providing services to needy residents of Indian River County. The Philanthropy Committee carefully reviews over 35 local non-profit agencies to ensure they are operating efficiently and providing effective, impactful programs.

Since its founding in 2001, Grand Harbor Community Outreach has raised and distributed nearly $4.0 million into the local community to help in the areas of education, health, jobs and human services. You can learn more about the Grand Harbor Community Outreach Program by visiting their website at
